Maureen Lloyd took over running of the minibus service in 2004. The 87-year-old said: “We only had the one minibus then.” “Now we have eight. Since the lockdown, we have only been running three of them and they have been on the road every day.” Grandmother-to-16 and great-grandmother to 20, Maureen checks the tyres and changes the windscreen wipers on her buses, even carrying out minor repairs. “I wash them down too. It costs money otherwise, so it saves us a bit,” she said. The buses provide transport for the elderly, disabled and community groups, and have been garaged at the town’s old ambulance station on Malmesbury Road.
