MORE than 3,000 employers in the North West have signed up to a government scheme to support disabled workers. Latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions reveal that 3,054 employers are participating in the Disability Confident scheme. The initiative champions inclusive employment and encourages businesses to recruit and retain disabled people. An additional 315 Disability Employer Advisers (DEA) are being taken on by Jobcentres across the country to offer the right support to clients who have a disability or a health condition. Brian Thompson, a DEA based in Bolton, said: “My role is to help disabled customers or those with a health condition reach their full potential.
