Q
uestion: Can my daughter use my Disabled Person’s Parking Permit if she is going to the shops for me?
Answer: A Disabled Person’s Parking Permit (also called EU Parking Card) is only issued to a person with a disability. The permit shows the name and photograph of the person it has been issued to. Your daughter cannot use your Disabled Person’s Parking Permit unless you are with her.
Only you can use it. However, you can use your permit for any vehicle you are travelling in, either as a driver or as a passenger.
Sligo Gardai clamp down on unauthorised use of disabled parking spaces Published: Thursday, 10 December 2020 08:28
Gardai in Sligo will today undertake a week-long campaign targeting the unauthorised use of disabled parking bays, and unauthorised use of disabled parking permits in Co Sligo.
They will also focus on other forms of illegal parking which interfere with the movement of wheelchair users or people with limited mobility.
Operation ENABLE is a multi-agency initiative, involving Gardai in Sligo / Leitrim, Sligo County Council, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland and the Irish Wheelchair Association.
The initiative aims to raise awareness to motorists that it s an offence under road traffic laws to park or stop in a disabled parking bay, and could result in a €150 fine.
