Vietnam's aquaculture output is estimated at 4.75 million tonnes this year, rising by some 4.17 percent from 2020, according to the Directorate of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien has asked the Directorate of Fisheries to pool all possible resources and take synchronous measures to soon remove “yellow card” warning on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
A national forum on marine plastic waste management for sustainable fishery development took place on December 23, offering opportunities for sides involved to discuss activities in implementing the sector’s action plan for such management during the 2020-2030 period.
Shipments of fishery products are estimated to rake in 8.89 billion USD in 2021, posting a year-on-year rise of 5.7 percent, said Nguyen Quang Hung, deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Directorate of Fisheries.
