Education: Religious leaders, others back gender policy revie

Some clerics and other stakeholders have expressed commitment to ensuring review of the National Policy on Gender in Basic Education, to resolve issues of inequality at all levels of education.
They said this in an interview with newsmen at the end of a two day Zonal Consultative and Critique Meeting on the National Policy on Gender in Basic Education in Abuja on Saturday.
Speaking, some of the clerics said that their religions did not support gender inequality.
Dr Muhammad Kabir, Imam of Abuja National Mosque, said the review process was a welcome development.

Kano, Dec 20. 2020 The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitments towards providing quality education for children with special learning needs in all the public schools in the State.
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Executive Secretary Kano State Universal Education Board, made the remarks while declaring open a 2-day capacity building workshop for special education teachers in Kano.
Balarabe Danlami, the Head of Public Relations, Kano State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday in Kano.
According to him, Hayyo was represented by the Director Social Mobilisation, Hajiya Amina Umar.
Hayyo stressed that educating children with special needs provides and accords them skills.
