: FairPlay and WFUV

4.06.21 1:06pm A newly formed nonprofit group called FairPlay made up of radio stations, DJs, record labels, industry folks and activists all over the US has formed to address issues of racism and amplify BIPOC voices and stories in the music industry. In support of these same efforts, WFUV also pledges to talk about racial inequality on-air and online, and to build supportive bridges between stations and communities. It s a natural fit with our ongoing EQFM initiative. One of those steps is highlighting local Black-owned businesses (as part of our Corporate Support underwriting placements), which you ll see pop up on our website and e-newsletter.

Maryland to Appeal Denial of Inaugural Presidential Emergency Declaration Seeks Reimbursement for Costs Related To Emergency and Safety Measures  Reisterstown, MD (February 12, 2021) Governor Larry Hogan today announced that Maryland has appealed the federal denial of a request for a Presidential Emergency Declaration to reimburse Maryland agencies for expenses related to the inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. in January. The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) sent an appeal through the Federal Emergency Management Agency for costs during the period of Jan. 6-21. “The State of Maryland and several of our jurisdictions were proud to support the peaceful transition of power,” said Gov. Hogan. “We did not hesitate to provide critical support during the January 6 insurrection, and hope that our partners at FEMA will work with us to recoup these expenses.”

Milbank’s op-ed was erroneously headlined “Meet the Trump saboteur in charge of undermining Biden and America.” He spewed that “[W]hat Russ Vought is very good at is sabotage. He’s sabotaging national security, the pandemic response and the economic recovery all to make things more difficult for the incoming Biden administration.” He continued his rant: “That he’s also sabotaging the country seems not to matter to Vought, who has spent nearly two decades as a right-wing bomb thrower.” This is the latest exhibit of the kind of meaningless propaganda the newspaper has chosen to run in its four-year crusade against Preside
