BENNINGTON United Counseling Service of Bennington County recently completed a multi-year wage compensation project that has culminated in an increase in compensation for most of the agency’s staff.
Egypt is a 1-year-old brown tabby that’s available for adoption from the Effingham County animal shelter.
“She’s very affectionate and she’s very pretty,” said shelter Director Lorna Shelton. “She has beautiful green eyes and she likes attention.”
Also up for adoption this week is Abby, a 3-year-old lab-retriever mix. “She’s very sweet and calm,” Shelton said. “She’d make a great family pet.” She is being treated for heartworms.
The adoption fee is $60 for cats and $75 for dogs and includes spaying or neutering and basic shots.

Marble is a 6-month-old kitten that’s available for adoption from the Effingham County animal shelter.
“She’s scared but once she gets into a home she’ll warm up,” said shelter Director Lorna Shelton. “She’s a pretty little kitten.”
