Cape May County s occupancy tax collection increased more than 10% each month during the first two quarters of this year compared to 2022, according to state figures.
The Cape May County Department of Tourism will present its annual Tourism Conference on
June 6 at 10 A.M. at the Cape May County Administration Building, located at 4 Moore Rd. in
Cape May Court House. Cape May County Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio and
Tourism Director Diane Wieland will be among the speakers to discuss the final numbers from
2022 and to look ahead to the upcoming summer.
Canadian tourists, many from Quebec, made up 7-9% of visitors to Cape May County prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the U.S.-Canadian border reopened, the county's Department of Tourism launched a "Reconnect Canada" campaign to bring travelers back to Jersey Shore towns like Wildwood.
