The announcement comes after Port Milwaukee opted to end its agreement with Sea Scouts Ship 299 Invincible, meaning the scouts needed to find a new location come fall.

The Milwaukee Board of Harbor Commissioners today approved the appointment of
Eric Polzin to the position of Harbor Master. In his new role, Polzin will oversee operations at Port facilities and exercise regulatory and police powers over marine activity in the Milwaukee Harbor. His appointment is effective on June 14, 2021.
Polzin has worked at Port Milwaukee for thirteen years. During that time he has overseen projects, led staff, and planned major security and safety initiatives.
Crews pull capsized boat from Port of Milwaukee
On Tuesday, crews began the process of pulling the capsized Harbor Seagull out of the water.

The older of two work boats owned by Port of Milwaukee sank Monday morning.
Port Director Adam Tindall-Schlicht says the “Harbor Seagull” began taking on water over the weekend, and sank next to a harbor-owned dock around 5:30 a.m. on February 22, 2021.
