Analogue TV platform: FG set to launch Digital Switch Over in Lagos, April 29

The Federal Government has concluded plans to Kick-start the new rollout of the Digital Switch Over, DSO, in Lagos State, scheduled for April, 29, 2021.
DSO, is the process of transitioning from analogue to digital television broadcasting.
The transition from analogue to digital television decision followed a treaty agreement that was signed at the Regional Radio communication Conference (RRC-06) in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 16, 2016 to usher in ‘all-digital’ terrestrial broadcast services for sound and television by a target date ofJune 17, 2015.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed says the Digital Switch Over (DSO) will help to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of States through its value added services.
The Minister said this on Saturday when he led members of the Ministerial Task Force on a visit to the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House, Marina.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mohammed is chairman of the task force saddled with the responsibility of driving the successful execution of DSO, the process of transiting from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting.
FG directs GoTv, Startimes to migrate to FreeTV platform
The government says the directive is in line with the Digital Switch Over.

The Federal Government says it has directed two PayTv platforms – GoTv and Startimes – to migrate their signals from self-carrying to any of the two licensed FreeTv signal distributors.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, said the directive was in line with the Digital Switch Over (DSO) process.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that DSO is the process of transiting from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting. The country has set April 29 for the resumption of the roll-out of the second phase in the remaining 31 states.
