the president i m trying to remember the words but saying that if we had found out no wrongdoing we would have said so. and i think that the task for the democrats is to try to get him get direct direct mueller to be as expansive as possible on that very subject. that s really the whole game. let s remember that the north carolina rally last week was meant to be a mueller rebuttal. it was scheduled the day of mueller s original testimony. of course it got postponed a week and he doesn t have an event planned although he ll be in west virginia for part of it. there s a belief he will of course react to it. and as a final thought though the legal team doesn t have a wide ranging plan to respond to what mueller is going to say. there s some concern according to our reporting and quarters near the president as to how this is going on. as one of the advisers they felt like despite the coverage we
relieved a lot of pressure on the investigation. so with those facts, we applied those to our authorization to open a case which is, of course, an articulable, factual basis to believe that a threat to national security exists, and it was absolutely clear to us that we had reached that threshold and therefore it was time to step up to our obligation and begin an investigation. the question as to whether or not all of the questions and issues surrounding that investigation were resolved by the mueller report, i think is fairly obvious. they were not. direct mueller determined at the end of the day that his remit, his jurisdiction as it were, was particularly narrow to the specific question about coordination between the campaign and the russian government. will we ever see a resolution to those questions? i don t know. we ll have to see. we ll have to wait and see what investigative actions the fbi takes. if, in fact, any of the actions
i think i was shocked in the same way like you and everybody else likely was. was the fbi shocked? in a deeper way rather than i wonder why he would say that? there were a number of moments that caused that concerconcern of what may happen in that campaign of strange and unprecedented things that the candidate was saying. that was one of those moments. i think it is significant that the investigators on direct mueller s team followed that lead and concern. and look, at the other side of the equation, right? look at what they know the russian and foreign intelligence officers were doing at that time. they now come pretty close to showing us that there may have been a direct response by the russian hackers to do exactly what the president publicly
