STRUGGLING Barrow slipped to their fourth straight defeat after losing 2-1 at home to Morecambe (writes Shane McDermott). Striker Scott Quigley’s sixth goal in ten games was in vain as battling Barrow’s disappointing run of results continued. The Bluebirds are a point adrift of safety, but have two vital games in hand over closest relegation rivals Southend – who lost at home to Bolton. Aaron Wildig opened the scoring before the break with Quigley levelling after the hour mark. But barely a minute later Mellor fired promotion-chasing Morecambe to victory at Holker Street. And the scoreline could have been worse had it not been for a string of fine saves from Joel Dixon.

Battling Barrow put on the back foot by Bradford – match report

Barrow sign former Town defender Dion Donohue

The versatile 27-year-old has been without a club since leaving Swindon in December for personal reasons. Barrow boss Michael Jolley said on the Bluebirds’ official website: “We felt that Dion will add to the options that we’ve got. “He can play two positions; he is comfortable as a left-side defender and left-back or he can play in midfield as well – he’s experienced, versatile and adds to our options. “He was playing in League One for most of the first half of this season so he’s a good player, he’s got quality and he definitely brings something to the group.”
