Episode 60 - Cerebrally boring
I m getting close to the halfway point for Turok: Dinosaur Hunter but the confusing level design isn t helping to move things along. As much as I dislike Turok, however, I like doing it for Shacknews way more. Therefore, this game will not defeat me. I will not go silently into that quiet fog. I will raise my bow and arrow and as I pull the drawstring taut, I will proclaim, I. AM TUROK!
Wednesday nights are good for that uncut nostalgia over on Shacknews Twitch. We re bringing you a double dose of gaming classics every hump day and tonight, after the Stevetendo show, skankcore64 is back to beat every game released for the Nintendo 64 in North America! The polygon party begins at

Episode 59 - Turok: Fog Hunter
With a short break over the weekend, skankcore64 is back in business and ready to hunt some fog! Turok: Dinosaur Hunter has been a challenge so far, but most of that hardship stems from my own stubborn playstyle. Once I get it in my head to explore a certain location, I will keep grinding away at whatever is blocking my path until it s done. No more of that nonsense, I m not trying to play Turok forever. There are bigger and better games to enjoy and I m set on reaching those credits! Join me later today as I power through as much Turok as I can handle with the embedded viewer above or over on the Shacknews T
Streaming is a major part of our identity here at Shacknews. Every single day of the week, you can find a different show live on our Twitch channel, whether it be a let’s play, a developer interview, or an analytical discussion, we’ve got a lot of shows to catch. We were joined by developers from Torn Banner studios to go hands-on with the latest beta for the medieval combat game. From time to time, you’ll see game developers pop up on our Twitch channel for exclusive discussion’s on their projects.
If you were looking for a respite from the retro game takeover that happens every Wednesday night on Shacknews Twitch, look again! Tonight after the Stevetendo show, skankcore64 is back for another episode as I journey through every game released for the Nintendo 64 here in the North American region. Don t miss a minute when it goes live later at
9 p.m. PT / 12 a.m. ET!
Episode 58 - It s tricky Turok a rhyme
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a tricky game. With all the fog obscuring your view, it s easy to miss some things, like the save point that is conveniently located in the hub world. If I had seen that on my first experience with the game, that would have saved me about an hour or so of my time. The level designs can also hide important paths or platforms just out of view unless the player inches forward just a bit more to see a glimpse of geometry in the mist. It s not impossible, however, and I fully expect to roll credits on this game but not tonight!
