A small rail museum at the former train station in Atherton got a little closer to to reality after the Atherton City Council approved a $300,000 contract to build it.
With a $400,000 grant from Caltrain in hand, Atherton is on its way to outfitting its 620-square-foot train station depot, at the shuttered stop, with a "mini rail history museum."
After having no luck finding anyone to operate a cafe in its new library last spring, Atherton plans to solicit another round of applications. Town staffers say there s renewed interest in the cafe, which might open in the fall.
