Beedi worker Janardhanan, 63, had donated his life savings of Rs 2 lakh to the vaccine fund
KOZHIKODE: The suspense over who the anonymous beedi worker from Kannur who had given his life savings of Rs 2 lakh to the CMDRF as part of “Vaccine Challenge” leaving just Rs 850 in his bank account has ended.
It was 63-year-old and differently-abled Janardhanan of Chaladan House at Avera in Kannur who had put society before self and become the face of benevolence in the trying times.
Janardhanan, who still earns a living by rolling beedis, said that the amount he parted comprised the money he got during his retirement from Kerala Dinesh Beedi society, the gratuity amount of his deceased wife who too was a beedi worker and the monthly disability pension he received.
