Plymouth Public Library Director Jennifer Harris retiring

PLYMOUTH – After nearly three decades of service to the town, the director of the Plymouth Public Library is moving on.
But Jennifer Harris will continue to work in support of libraries in retirement and may get even more involved in local government.
Harris, who has served as the co-chair of the Massachusetts Library Association’s Legislative Committee for the last five years, will continue advocating for public libraries and school libraries on the state level when she retires next week.
In her 27 years with the town, first as assistant director and now director of the library, Harris has also attended every Town Meeting since 1993. She hopes to continue the streak as a voting member of the legislative body and plans to run for election as a Town Meeting representative from West Plymouth this spring. ”I already have my papers,” Harris said in an interview last week.
