The 130th birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar was celebrated with Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner V.V. Jyothsna paying floral tributes to his statue here on Wednesday.
Ms. Jyothsna, addressing the gathering, said, “the Constitution was the only religious book; Indian Constitution is the only religious text we follow.” Dr. Ambedkar believed that the Constitution is not just a written text but it can be an effective tool to ensure social justice and equality to all sections of society.

Of the 1,287 villages in the Kalaburagi district, 156 are likely to face water scarcity this summer.
As per data provided by the Chief Executive officer of Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat, Dileesh Sasi, around 43 villages in Aland taluk are likely to face water scarcity during peak summer. In Kalaburagi taluk, 38 villages are likely to face scarcity, followed by Chincholli taluk with 24 villages, and Afzalpur taluk with 21 villages.
As many as 13 villages in Jewargi taluk, 11 villages in Cittapur, and six villages in Sedam taluk would also face scarcity.

The State government has, as part of its efforts to develop tourism in the State, decided to build heliports in major tourist destinations, including Kalaburagi, Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeshwar has said.
“We have decided to build heliports in major tourist destinations across the State to boost tourism. Kalyana Karnataka has good potential for development of tourism as it has many historical monuments. We have, therefore, included Kalaburagi in the list of places where we are going to build heliports,” Mr. Yogeshwar said during his interaction with mediapersons at the district administrative complex in Kalaburagi on Tuesday.
