Digital Event Awards deadline extended The deadline for entries for the Digital Event Awards has been extended until 5pm on 5 February, organiser Mash Media has confirmed. The new awards scheme champions excellence in the delivery of digital events by the individuals, teams and companies that have worked tirelessly through the last year to create new ways of engaging with audiences via digital channels. Duncan Siegle, awards director, said he was “amazed” at the traction the awards have driven across the event industry. He said: “We have created a programme of awards that reflect the whole events sector and the outstanding work that we have all enjoyed since live events were off the agenda.  The appetite to enter and gain recognition from the industry has been overwhelming. What is your background in the events industry? That’s a big question. I have been producing events for over 30 years both in the UK and internationally. My first event was volunteering as the chair of my local colleges’ Rage Day Parade. That was an experience of getting chucked in the deep end, although I was studying Hotelkeeping and Catering at the time – an events qualification didn’t exist in those days so I had to develop my own way of event organising.

First judges confirmed for Digital Event Awards

Industry experts from across the events sector have committed their time and knowledge to ensuring the panel is of the highest quality. The judging panel will be chaired by Dr James Morgan (pictured), principal lecturer in Event Design at the University of Westminster. Morgan commented that was “an honour” to be involved in judging the awards. “I am looking forward to celebratinge the amazing work that I’ve seen the industry produce over the in the last 10 months,” he said. “Our industry has tirelessly strived – through established and new technologies – to service clients and provide businesses and consumers with distinctive experiences throughout the year.”
