DUBAI, February 3, 2021 Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, Mubadala and Dubal Holding today successfully completed a major milestone with the first firing of the Siemens Energy H-class gas turbine at a new AED1 billion ($272 million) state-of-the-art power plant under development at EGA’s Jebel Ali site. The Siemens Energy H-class gas turbine, a leading technology in efficient power generation, is the heart of the new power plant. Over the coming months, other facilities of the plant will be completed and integrated to achieve a generation capacity of over 600 megawatts of electricity. Full completion of the project is expected in the summer.

Siemens Energy is advancing the development of green hydrogen ecosystems in the UAE. Around the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed with Mubadala Investment Company as well as with Masdar and other partners to jointly drive UAE’s green hydrogen sector and the production of synthetic fuels.

Mubadala Investment has joined forces with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and ADQ for creating the Abu Dhabi Hydrogen Alliance to develop a roadmap to fast track the UAEâs adoption and use of hydrogen across major sectors.
In this regard, the three Abu Dhabi-based stated-owned entities have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The alliance will promote the use of hydrogen across utilities, mobility, and industry through their respective operating firms and also global partners.
Mubadala, Siemens Energy sign hydrogen MoU
ABU DHABI, January 18, 2021 Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) and Siemens Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive investment and develop advanced technology, manufacture equipment, and green hydrogen and synthetic fuel production. The initial focus of activity will be in Abu Dhabi and it is intended this will be expanded to international markets over time, a WAM report said.
