Two decades of Girlsâ Day were marked at the end of April by a âvirtual eventâ, as Austrian injection moulding machinery maker Engel continued to back the promotion of young female technicians.
Launched at the turn of the century, Girlsâ Day is designed to support young women in their career orientation and give them a new perspective on the world of work, in what head of the global apprentice training programme at Engel, Werner Wurm, calls a âclassic win-win situationâ.
“Finding qualified and committed skilled workers is increasingly becoming a challenge for companies,â explained Wurm. âFor us, events like Girls’ Day are the best way to get young women excited about a technical profession. The girls, in turn, get to experience new vocational fields and can see for themselves how much talent they have for a technical profession.
