Thor movies, his finest role, in our eyes, was in the BBC spy thriller
The Night Manager. Hiddleston plays Jonathan Pine, a former soldier turned manager of a luxury hotel who is tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of arms dealer and luxe-dressing-gown fan Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). The series was notable for its lush depiction of private jets, glamorous resorts and smart suits and immediately catapulted Hiddleston into 007 contention. But it wasnât just his performance that made an impact â at least for watch geeks. In that series, he wore a number of judiciously chosen, low-key timepieces by Tissot, including a Tissot Couturier Chronograph. Available for just £400, it struck a perfect balance: stylish enough for the screen while remaining under-the-radar enough for the character. It was Bond-adjacent, while keeping things a little more realistic â just like the show itself.
