More winners of the MI Shot to Win vaccine sweepstakes were announced on Wednesday. Protect Michigan Commission Director Kerry Ebersole Singh said nearly 64% of the state has gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot while the goal remains to get to 70% of those age 16 and older protected. She says the vaccine sweepstakes has made a difference. “We are excited that especially after we got beyond that July 4 holiday, we again started to climb those first week vaccinations,” Singh said. The winners announced Wednesday were $50,000 winners, or people who got their shots in July. The winner for July 14 was a Port Huron woman and the winner for July 15 was a West Bloomfield man. The winner for the July 17 was an Upper Peninsula woman whose vaccination was delayed due to her battle with cancer. Diedre Malloy talked about her experience.
