back to central america, some from laredo, el paso and brownsville. if you re a woman, a mother with a child, then they re being dropped off. in fact, every week in this area, down here in south texas, about 500 individuals are being released at the bus station. and, of course, if you re a kid with no parent, you re being sent off to an air force base or some other places. therefore we re seeing large numbers of individuals coming in. let me remind you, candace, this is not the first time we ve seen this. we had a civil war in el salvador and ten years ago the brazilians were coming in because mexico didn t call for a visa. they were coming in from mexico into the u.s. we ve seen these types of surges in the past. it s just a little different because you ve got so many kids with no parents coming in with them at that time. and tell me, first of all,
because going from texas to your state, someone would at least have had to call, would you think? well, this was done by the federal government. the agents had nothing do with it. they didn t call. they just dumped the people. somebody in the federal government has a bizarre sense of humor and said let s send them to the state of arizona instead. obviously, they knew they are starting a fire because of all the other dustups they have had with you including the state of texas and the governor. woo do you think they keep doing it? i don t know. i sued the obama administration every day. i am demanding that they cease and desist. we re aggressively seeking what legal avenues are available in federal court if they continue to do this.
she was selfless. she was warm. she also did things for other people. she cared about others a lot. sherry was also a punctual employee, so when she didn t come to work one day and didn t call, her co-workers were concerned. they called her husband, bob, who said sherry left for work at the usual time that morning and he didn t know where she was. so sherry s friends called police. a couple of officers look around, knock on the door and nobody answers, but they find an unlocked door. so they go in the house, they walk through the house, everything looks orderly and everything looks tidy. sherry s clothes, jewelry and toiletries were still in the house. it seemed very unusual that a woman with three children would just suddenly disappear. for the next two days, there were no signs of her.
but we don t believe there were any life boats at all, but rather life rafts. and the distinction was you would have had them available. what you have are containers that would have been manually released. if the vessel was stable, the life rafts would have had to go in the water in order to deploy. the passengers would have had to make their way down a gang way to get into the water or jump to get into the life rafts. given the temperature of the water, of course, that would have been a serious issue in and of itself. but the fact is the captain didn t call for an evacuation until the vessel was already listing which made it impossible for the crew to go and release the life rafts into the ocean. and which is part of the reason that we only saw two of them deployed. so in terms of trying to
