WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 27: The Internal Revenue Service headquarters building appeared to be mostly empty April 27, 2020 in the Federal Triangle section of Washington, DC. The IRS called about 10,000 volunteer employees back to work Monday at 10 of its mission critical locations to work on taxpayer correspondence, handling tax documents, taking telephone calls and other actions related to the tax filing season.
About 1.1 million stimulus checks totaling more than $2 billion are on their way. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced the delivery of the eighth batch of the third round of stimulus payments on Wednesday, which are intended to help Americans shore up their finances amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has acted to ban the selling of mint-flavored cigarettes, dealing a big blow to the tobacco industry. The prohibition has been actively advocated for by public health and civil rights organizations, noting the excessive risks of menthol cigarettes to black Americans.

Critics of the ban argued that the prohibition would lead to illegal sales and further confrontations with law enforcement. More than a third of cigarette sales in the United States will be affected by the new restriction.
