Free community meal Sunday in Norway | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 24, 2021 NORWAY Grace United Methodist Church of Norway will offer a free community meal from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu will be potato soup, grilled ham and cheese sandwich and dessert. While there is no cost for the dinner, a donation basket will be available for those who want to contribute. Meals can be delivered in Norway to those previously on the delivery list. Meals will be available for takeout in the church parking lot. Reservations are required. To order a meal to be picked up, call Chris Spence at 906-282-9752. The church is at 130 Odill Drive behind the Jake Menghini Museum and is known as Crossroads, a facility shared by Grace United Methodist and Bethany Lutheran churches.

Florence to acquire 20 iPads; sets Sept 1 school year start | News, Sports, Jobs

mlanthier@ironmountaindailynews.com FLORENCE, Wis. The Florence County Board of Education has approved spending $7,880 in Common School Funds to replace 20 iPads. The iPads will purchased from Apple Inc. because they offer the best price with the education discount, said Monica Chartier, the district’s director of technology. The iPads will be placed in the library for student use but also will be used by 4-year-old kindergarten students when needed. The district in 2020 eliminated maintaining separate one-to-one devices for 4K. In other business, the board: Learned the district is up four students from its September third Friday count. Enrollment is at 381, with total membership up from 465 students to 473 students, Superintendent Ben Niehaus said.

IRON MOUNTAIN Six siblings and their families have adapted their holiday celebrations to benefit programs in three area school districts. The Petschar siblings Dana Colenso, Denise Larson, Dean Petschar, Darla Olson, Lynn Gussert and Darren Petschar, along with their spouses, children and grandchildren in 2014 switched from exchanging gifts to having a fun-filled evening that generates money for those in need, with the theme of “Share Your Christmas.”
