A month. Why . Because we dreamt like every other american. It was no longer what you could become but what opportunities your children will have. Education has been the great equalizer in this country. And theres no greater place to do that than allowing those that may not have great wealth, but have a great opportunity with their children a 529 account. But like anything, we should modernize it, because education changes just as technology changes. Could you imagine today sending your child to college, but to tell them to learn without having a computer . Isnt that a part of the Education System, too. Well, thats what this 529 account does. Today, when we talk on the floor its really about the future. Its about the future of every Single Family from every walk of life. Mr. Speaker, i differ with the president on many issues, and i would say the majority of this house differs with the president that he would tax every parent or every grand parent who wanted to put away for a Brighter
Said because theres absolutely no opportunity here. And i thought everybody who is young with any sort of drive or initiative, if their dream is to get out of this country this is never going to change. And i thought, well, what are we doing to help remedy this . And thats when i realized the answer was absolutely nothing. Our policy is only aggravating the situation. Instead of being able to bring the International Community together to help reserve pressure toward the castro regime weve isolated ourselves toward the International Community. Theyve run the other way because they dont want to be seen as maligned with this overreaching policy. Its done nothing to help Civil Society on the island, tomorrow power to empower them in any way. Its given us no leverage with the cubans to push for changes. They dont respond to basically anything we say on this side. And it hasnt overall it hasnt achieved its objectives. It hasnt ushered in a democratic transition. So when you grow up your enti
To first and foremost, give those elements of the moderate Syrian Opposition were supporting the capacity to defend themselves, to build battlefield acredibility and ultimately to use those elements and forces to deal with stash and the context of the strategy to deal with stash. At the same time were building that capacity, our hope would be to build within the political esh long, a sophistication that the two together, the political and the military esh lon are the Critical Force that will have a place at the table during the political process that will see the replacement of assad. It seems to me thats a tenyear proposition. And if thats the case, we should be talking in a tenyear period. We can finish iraq over the next three years, but then thats a much longer process and we should just understand what the long term goal requires of us inside syria. And just saying assads name over and over again will help us focus on the ultimate objective that the Free Syrian Army is going to ha
I am ok with the president making a goodfaith belief. Im ok with that. I think the fact here is one of bad faith. The reason why the president s statement is relevant is not the political theater. It is a statement he says he was asked, and he said no. The Justice Department said, this cant happen. Suddenly, you lose up already. I think it is bad faith. We are in uncharted waters. You will find that theres not much written on the take care clause. That is why the separation of powers trumps the Immigration Law when it goes too far. These provisions grant discretion, but to grant the amount of discretion now is unconstitutional. I should add that the memo does not put that much weight on these supervision, but the doj did. They shifted position of these provisions to put more weight on it. There is discretion but it is within the take care clause, which we have to litigate, and it will be at the fifth circuit any minute. Rep. Poe i want to reclaim my time. I didnt ask you to tell me how
