As tradition would have it, members of the Gorey branch of the Fianna Fáil party gathered outdoors at Castletown cemetery to mark the annual Liam Mellows commemoration.
Councillors Joe Sullivan, Andrew Bolger, Donal Kenny and Pip Breen paid their respects and held flags in honour of the fallen Republican hero, while a wreath was laid at the graveside by former TD Lorcan Allen, chairperson of the local branch.
