Wexford County Council officials have decided to “go away and do some work” on the Esmonde Street Regeneration Plan in direct response to kickback from retailers regarding the proposal to remove on-street parking.
“Don’t bother” was the message that Councillor Diarmuid Devereux wished to pass on to the CEO of Wexford County Council after a promise to install a paint disposal facility in Gorey went unfulfilled.
Long-term residents of a St Vincent de Paul sheltered accommodation unit in Gorey have been left “worried sick” after being informed that the hostel that they have come to know as home is set to close.
Clarity on the plans for the Esmonde Street regeneration project was sought by Councillor Diarmuid Devereux, who queried comments made by Chairperson Councillor Donal Kenny regarding the inclusion of work at Esmonde Lane in the plan.
A housing report circulated amongst members of Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District Council at the March meeting evoked frustration, rage and confusion as the councillors slated the failure to deliver houses in Gorey during a housing crisis and ahead of an eviction ban.
