The latest hunger report released by the Cambridge Food Bank shows that more homeowners, full and part-time workers, and first-time users are accessing the service.
There were 735 households that sought food assistance for the first time ever in March through The Food Bank of Waterloo Region's network of community programs and agency partners. That's an 89 per cent increase from 2022.
A one-time grocery rebate for low income Canadians is coming at time where many residents in the region are struggling to keep up with their food bills.
