WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – On a wet, cold Sunday in May, dozens of protesters lined Kirtland Road or passed by in cars, working to raise awareness about what many call a “complete nuisance” – skeet shooting by Kirtland Country Club members.
The shooting at the club, which resumed after a 35-year hiatus about three years ago, only takes place on weekends during the club’s “off season,” from Nov. 1 through March 31, a press release sent by protest organizers says. The country club does not allow shooting during the summer months, as to not disturb its golfers, tennis players, pool-goers and other members.
