School Committee
In a three-way race for two School Committee seats, voters chose incumbent Justin McCarthy with 1,029 votes, and newcomer Jen Gold, who garnered 806 votes.
McCarthy and Gold defeated Jennifer Wilson who garnered 735 votes in her effort to regain a School Committee seat she lost in 2020.
Incumbent Justin McCarthy, who first won filling an unexpired term in 2020, won his bid for a full, three-year term. I m very happy with the voter turnout, and thrilled with the support I received today, McCarthy said. I think I worked hard the past year.with a number of challenges related to COVID, and was very proud that the community came out to support my campaign.
Early voting news
State legislation allows for early voting due to COVID-19 concerns. Voters in town may use a vote-by-mail application or any written communication to request a ballot.
Applications must be marked as early voter application, and received by the town clerk s office by May 4, 5 p.m.
Town Meeting transport
Town Meeting is set for June 12. The Department of Elder and Human Services is providing transportation for residents in need.
