Shasta County DA: Redding man guilty of 2nd-degree murder in 2020 DUI crash

A 43-year-old Redding man was convicted of second-degree murder for the 2020 DUI crash that killed a woman on Highway 299, the Shasta County District Attorney s Office said Wednesday.
Hawk Blaze Bergstrom was found guilty Tuesday. Bergstrom faces 15 years to life in state prison, the DA s office said.
Investigators said Bergstrom was driving a 1999 Toyota pickup when he crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 1992 Chevy S-10 pickup being driven by Diana Schalk on the evening of Jan. 20, 2020. The crash happened near Grizzly Gulch Road west of Redding in the area of Whiskeytown Lake.
