A Laredoan is facing jailtime over the next two years due to a drug conviction.
Mayra Aguirre, 30, was ordered to federal prison Thursday after being convicted of importing over 15 kilograms of crystal meth, according to U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick. The drugs were valued up to an estimated $500,000 in Florida.
The 24-month sentence was handed by U.S. District Judge Diana Saldana and will be followed by a five-year supervised release, stated the office.
The sentencing was handed down, and Aguirre’s acceptance of her responsibility and remorse were noted.
