MADISON, Wis. The U.S. Postal Service is asking residents to make sure they clear snow and ice from sidewalks, stairs and mailboxes to ensure postal workers can effectively do their jobs.
Any customers receiving door delivery should clear their sidewalks, steps and porches are clear. Meanwhile, customers receiving curbside delivery should clear snow left by snow plows so postal workers can easily access mailboxes.
“Snow and ice make delivery dangerous and slow,” said Madison Postmaster Diana Nygaard. “Maintaining a clear path to the mail box – including steps, porches, walkways and street approach – will help letter carriers maintain consistent delivery service and help them get those cards and packages delivered in time for the holidays.”
