[inaudible conversations] good morning everyone and we apologize for being a little behind. i think the one thing we no, especially given the subject matter here this morning and with the anticipate of a our special guest, everyone here at is safe, secure and [laughter] and non-violent. in their behavior. we are here this morning to discuss this is a forum on a effective effective approaches to reducing violence in our cities all across america. we have a great, great panel and we will be introducing the members very shortly. but, this particular panel discussion is about discussing the unique and effective ways of addressing what i personally believe is one of the most serious problems facing cities all across the united states of america and that of of course is unfortunately the issue of violence. certainly many of you already know that reducing violence is the top priority for me personally. i will be talking a little bit more about that tomorrow. but as mayor of ph
obviously use today within a certain period of time before the flight takes off, typically subject to additional measures. so what are the various levels of screening that the technology can provide once you have used the data in an appropriate fashion to identify these individuals and i think that is part of the obligation that we have to the government as well. it s not just a you tell us what you need because i can go to tsa and say what do you want and they will say what have you got? so it s a partnership and we have to work together on developing the technologies. let s pick up on what brad said and by the way we work directly with them on fingerprint technology. but you know, i think the issue of taking technology that we pushed out over the last 10 years and bringing it back here to the state for security purposes is not just a question of whether we have technology available nor is it only a question of regulatory constraints and things like that. there is a major
it s such a hopeful one. the body scanning machines at the airports. i began a book in 2004 with this example that was then science fiction. imagine that the government installs and airports body scanning machines that can reveal plastics and contraband, anything concealed under clothing, but also show you completely naked. at the same time the government does not have to install these machines because it is just been presented with an alternative called the blog machine. takes the contraband and plans to the narrow that takes the naked body and scrambles into a blob like 67 talk. back then i said given the choice between the naked machine in the blood you think it would be a no-brainer. in fact, things turned out very differently. science-fiction hypothetical came to pass a few years later. instead of picking the blob the u.s. government insisted on the naked machine. and it took a political protest galvanized by the immortal cry of patrick henry in the privacy movement, the
