It is usually about this time of year many locals start to get ants in their snow pants we need a change in scenery and/or a few less skiers competing for the fresh tracks we have come to consider our birthright by way of zip code. Winters here always are long, but this year’s subpar snow totals coupled with ceaseless crowds and socially distanced lift lines have made it seem like we are in the 15th inning and nowhere near calling the game. Sure, there have been a few proper powder days scattered about, but they’ve been accompanied by hordes of humans and the snow has been mostly chewed up within an hour. Like many Parkites, I have toyed with the idea of hiking for some untracked turns, but this year in particular the avalanche danger has been far too high to risk it.
The Trail Agents program in Colorado enables volunteers with the right training to carry out trail maintenance on their own, when they're out for a ride or whenever they feel like getting some trail work done on their own.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. The Boulder County Sheriff s Office (BCSO) said they located the dog of missing Boulder hiker, Josh Hall, who went for a hike with his dog near Nederland on Feb. 3 and didn t return, according to the BCSO.
The dog, named Happy, was found Thursday along the Peak to Peak Highway between mile markers 40 and 41.
Hall, 27, was reported missing on Wednesday evening, after he went on a hike from the Hessie Trailhead, where his vehicle was later found.
Rescue crews are still involved in a ground search for the Arvada man after deciding on Monday to suspend the effort on the ground because of heavy winter conditions. Crews said they will continue to search either when new information surfaces or until the snow melts.
