In entertainment industry terms, the latest collaboration by longtime friends Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg the U.S. rollout of a cannabis and lifestyle brand called Houseplant was a blockbuster.
The demand for the homewares, which included Rogen-designed ashtrays, was so high last month that the website had to be temporarily shut down. And the three Rogen- and Goldberg-endorsed strains of weed available exclusively through the Amuse delivery service and limited to the L.A. area sold out within three hours of their March 11 launch.
More than a month later, Houseplant is set to dramatically expand retail availability of its cannabis products beyond Los Angeles and into brick-and-mortar dispensaries around the state, a rep for the brand has shared exclusively with The Times. (Houseplant’s home goods are still currently available online only.)

Movie star Seth Rogen and his longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg recently started a marijuana and home-goods company called Houseplant, and the launch was so successful it broke the brand s website.
Rogen said on Twitter that he underestimated the interest in Houseplant, and was forced to bring the site down. Due to insane traffic we took the Houseplant site down temporarily while I learn to write code, he said. I m very sorry if you ve been waiting.

Goldberg: [deadpans] I still haven’t tried the stuff. … We’re identical in our consumption, more or less. I tend to lean toward bongs and other things a bit more. Seth’s a joint man, but beyond that we share a desk, and pre-COVID, we’d share joints. I like the efficiency of the bong clean and simple. I love a good joint too. I’m not anti-joint. … The bong is just largely because I work alone in a room a lot. But if I’m in a social setting, I much prefer the joint. I enjoy the social ritual.
