Portland has had more homicides in 2020 than any other year in the past 27 years.
Fifty-two people died by homicide in the city, the most since 1993 when 54 people were killed.
The killings come at a time the city is wracked by gun violence.
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reports that since Jan.1, there were 858 separate shooting incidents in which 224 people were hit by bullets, including those who died.
This week alone, five people were killed.
The most recent involved a woman shot and killed in front of her husband, according to District Attorney Mike Schmidt. It happened Thursday night near Legacy Emanuel hospital in Northeast Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore An Uber driver who was critically injured in a Northeast Portland shooting on Dec. 12 has died, Portland police said Thursday.
Dhulfiqar Kareem Mseer, 23, was working when he was shot just after midnight near Northeast Stafford Street and 11th Avenue.
Police said more than 60 rounds were fired during the shooting.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner ruled Mseer’s death a homicide.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reported that Mseer was a refugee from Iraq who moved with his family to Portland about five years ago. He returned to Iraq in August to get married and was working to bring his new wife to the United States.
1 person killed in North Portland shooting

Portland police are investigating a shooting that killed one person in North Portland Thursday evening.
Shortly before 7 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting near Vancouver Avenue and Stanton Street. That area includes Dawson Park and Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. When police arrived they found one person dead. Officers have not yet publicly identified the person, nor the cause and manner of death.
Officers also have not identified any suspects, or anything about the circumstances of the shooting. Many residents of the area reported on social media that they heard a barrage of gunshots.

The state medical examiner found Mseer died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.
