GUWAHATI: Around 6,000 app cab drivers in the city have decided to shut all services and organise a strike on Tuesday in protest against the “exploitation and loot” by the companies.
Already hit by the months-long lockdowns, the resented drivers sought a revision in the fare tariff in view of the rising fuel prices. “The price of petrol and diesel have gone up to an unprecedented level. It is becoming difficult for the drivers to continue at cheap rates. Moreover, the companies cut 30 to 35% as commission from the fare. We demand this commission to be reduced to 10%,” Dhrubajyoti Debnath, a cab driver from Nagaon district, said.
