Farmers in Dharwad district are gearing up for kharif sowing with the support of the agriculture department. The District Consumer Grievances Redressal Commission has ordered ICIC Lombard Insurance Company to pay Rs 15.6 lakh as compensation to a woman and her daughter. Prashant Shanbhag, a resident of Sarswatpur in Dharwad, had an insurance policy on his two-wheeler with conditions for compensation in case of his death in an accident. The commission decreed that the claimants were eligible for compensation and ordered the insurance company to pay the claimants Rs 15 lakh along with interest, compensation for inconvenience, and court expenses.
