Death of Renu in mob beating: case transferred to Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge s Court

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate s Court today ordered to transfer the Taslima Begum Renu murder case to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge s Court for trial.
On July 20 of 2019, 40-year old Renu, a single mother of four-and-a-half-year-old Tuba and Taseen al Mahir, a fifth-grader, had gone to Badda Uttar-Purba Primary School to inquire about admission in hopes of getting Tuba enrolled.
But a mob beat her brutally to death in front of the school gate, suspecting her to be a child kidnapper.

Dhaka South Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has said that the words of the preceding mayor Sayeed Khokon have become a ‘laughing stock’ to people. );

“Some overenthusiastic people have filed cases [against Khokon] without my permission. I am hoping that they would withdraw the charges,” Taposh said on Tuesday.
Taposh said this while attending the Old Dhaka’s festival of Shakrain, the festival to mark the end of the Bengali month of Poush .
Khokon joined a previous protest organised by a group of disgruntled traders who suffered losses due to the city corporation’s eviction drive in Gulistan’s Fulbaria Market on Saturday.
