Colombia reaches an agreement with Chile to export its Hass avocado to that market
After seven years of negotiations, Colombia and Chile have reached an agreement to export Colombian Hass avocado to the Chilean market. We were able to agree on the work plan for the export of Colombia s Hass avocado to the Chilean market thanks to the phytosanitary surveillance work carried out by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) and the actions of the farms and packing plants technical teams, stated Deyanira Barreo Leon, the general manager of the ICA.
Rodolfo Zea Navarro, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that “Colombian agriculture continues to conquer markets at the international level. Our avocados will arrive in Chile, a destination that will increase the demand for this national product, which in 2020 reached 24 countries.”
Colombia and Chile agree on a Work Plan for the export of Hass avocados
After seven years of work, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), and Chile s Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) reached an agreement on the Work Plan so that Colombia can export its Hass avocado to that country.
“We were able to agree on the Work Plan on January 22 thanks to the work ICA carried out in phytosanitary surveillance and the official actions articulated with the technical teams of the farms and packing plants. We continue to provide producers with opportunities to market the products from the Colombian countryside,” stated Deyanira Barreo Leon, the general manager of the ICA.
