Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday inspected the bridge collapse site in the western state of Gujarat where more than 100 people were killed, officials said.
The search operation in a Gujarat river where a bridge snapped yesterday has been called off for the day, officials said, adding they will resume it tomorrow morning. Nearly a hundred bodies are feared trapped in the muddy water, they said.
Some of the old cables of the century-old bridge in Gujarat weren't changed during the seven-month renovation by a private firm, sources have said. The bridge snapped yesterday, killing over 130, including 47 children, the youngest two-year-old.
