The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, as well as another death due to the disease.
Five of the new cases were close contacts of confirmed cases, one was related to an outbreak, one was attributed to community spread, and one was still under investigation at the time of reporting.

“It’s a good number today, but we know that it can change very quickly,” said health unit CEO Theresa Marentette about the low COVID-19 case count. “People are asked to continue to be diligent with public health measures.”

Windsor-Essex is on the cusp of meeting the criteria for a downgrade in COVID-19 restrictions, but the region s medical officer of health says there s a risk of moving from the red control zone to the orange restrict zone too quickly.
