The air force scrambled two f16s to escort the plane out and the airman confirmed the pilot was unconscious. An innocent boy is in Critical Condition tonight. Ithappened last night in the 3700 block of hayes street northeast. Surae chinn brings us the latest. 8yearold innocent have nothing to do with nothing. I mean, why . Reporter police want to know the answer to that question, too. Were not sure what happened. It appears that the child may have been an unattended victim in this. Reporter family friend say the 8yearold boy was shot in the head caught in the middle of a gun battle. I thought it was like a war zone. It sounded reporter two men were injured, but suffered nonlife threatening injuries. Now the community is pulling for this boy. He was probably out here playing minding his own business. But, you know, feel sorry for him. It was devastating to me to hear it happened to a child. He dont deserve it at all. Witnesses say she then climbed over the guardrail and jumped in herself. Police say the child plunged more than 50 feet down, into just 4 feet of water filled with rocks. When Police Arrived just a minute later they spotted the mother crawling out of the water and collapsing on to the bank. The child though was still missing. It took us about four minutes of trying to locate where this baby might be. He was eventually found about 700 yards down river. Police solves ers officers jumped in to save him. Revived the child through cpr. Then both mother and son were taken to the hospital, in serious condition, but bolt are expected to survive. At this point, no charges have been filed.
