LIMA A Lima man charged with murder and aggravated arson in the death of his mother last fall has been found competent to stand trial.
Still to be determined is how that ruling affects pleas of not guilty by reason of insanity entered by Devon Ketzenberger last month.
Ketzenberger, 25, was indicted in November by an Allen County grand jury on charges of murder, murder, aggravated arson and felonious assault in connection with a Sept. 19 fire that killed his mother, Wendy Ketzenberger, 54, at a residence at 1113 N. Woodlawn St. He pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
2020 was already a difficult year. And for the City of Lima, it was an unusual year when it comes to crime. Lima Police Department handled 12 homicides, up from the average of 5 murders a year for the last few years. LPD has arrested at least one person in each case.
On Feb.4, Levels Lounge was the site of a violent triple murder. A gun fight left Terrell McGraw and Devontae Upshaw dead inside the bar and Timothy White was found dead on a nearby sidewalk. Deontray Forrest has been charged for two of the murders with criminal gang charges attached to them. The bar has since closed.
