If the Devils are viewing their four-game set against the Rangers as metaphorical playoff series, they’re in really rough shape after two games.
The Rangers scored just 47 seconds into the first period, and Artemi Panarin finished with two goals and three points in a 4-0 win on Thursday at Madison Square Garden. Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin picked up his second consecutive shutout against the Devils, stopping all 16 shots the Devils sent his way.

Front and center was former NHL MVP Taylor Hall, who scored his first goal for the Black and Gold, and just his third this season.

. “We were on top of them. We were on top of pucks. As a line we created chances . overall it’s been a fun line to play on. I can feel myself getting more comfortable as the games go on. I think it will only improve if we work on it.”
