Kilkenny student’s poem wins national PDST Senior Cycle Poetry Competition Read You Are Not Alone here Reporter: );   ); A Kilkenny girl has won first place in the senior section of the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) National Poetry Competition. Stephanie Dunne’s poem ‘You Are Not Alone’ was written about Covid and lockdown, with her granny Mary Wall in Lisdowney very much in mind. Mary has 11 children, 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Stephanie is a Transition Year student in the Presentation Secondary School, where she was feted this week for her big win. Her mother Veronica is very proud, and has high praise for the school for their endless care and guidance to all the girls in the school during the challenging recent times.

Minister Foley announces development of a New Digital Strategy for Schools   Minister for Education Norma Foley TD today announced the development of a new Digital Strategy for Schools, commencing with a wide-ranging consultation process. The new Digital Strategy for Schools will replace the existing strategy, which will run out in the current school year. Minister Foley said: I am pleased to announce this important work on a new Digital Strategy for Schools. It is my aim that the new strategy will build on what has been achieved to date. Significant progress has been made in the lifetime of the existing strategy. In particular, real commitment has been shown by school leaders and teachers in planning for the embedding of digital technologies, to support teaching and learning, and has been key to the successful implementation to date.

TG4 goes back to school

rom Monday 18th January at 10am on TG4 Following the Government’s announcement that all primary schools will remain closed until the end of January under Level 5 public health restrictions, TG4 has made the decision to broadcast a new series of Cúla4 ar Scoil which will commence on Monday 18th January 2021. The series will air from Monday to Thursday at 10am and will be repeated at 4pm each day. Cúla4 ar Scoil was commissioned by TG4 during the first lockdown period in April to support parents and teachers who are learning from home while schools were closed. The series caters for primary school children who attend Gaelscoileanna and Gaeltacht schools.
