Action from the 2020 staging of the Purewater/JC/R. Danny Williams Invitational Development Meet, at the JC Ashenheim Stadium.
With just two days before the official start of the 2021 local track and field season, the first meet on the calendar is yet to get government approval.
The 2020 season was disrupted in March as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and after a four-month hiatus, track and field returned with a series of meets staged by the MVP Track Club under strict COVID-19 protocols by health authorities.
With health officials expecting a spike in COVID-19 cases due to the Christmas season when certain restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus were relaxed, the 2021 local track and field season is scheduled to kick off on Saturday at Jamaica College (JC), with the JC Invitational Development Meet - pending a signoff from health authorities.
