For nearly two decades, the mountain community of Alpine has been trying to get a park. It looks like it might be closer to achieving that goal.
Earlier this month, a handful of employees from the San Diego County Parks and Recreation Department held an open house at the Alpine Library. They shared maps of prospective areas where a park could be located and listened to the public.
The rural area currently has just one small park on the grounds of an elementary school.
There is no timetable for when the county will make a decision, officials said.
